Envista Product Release Offers a “Smarter Streets” Approach to Right of Way Management
New Features for Managing Events, Traffic Impacts, and Smart Permitting
Beverly, MA – July 13, 2010 - Envista Corporation today introduced Envista 2010 Release 1, the latest release of their unique, web-based software for municipalities and utilities. The map-based system introduces “Smarter Streets”, a new suite of solutions that locate, coordinate, and communicate all activities that occur in the Right of Way, and links planned or unplanned events to traffic management. Envista’s flagship product enables municipalities and utilities to share construction and maintenance projects and schedules via the Internet. Using a standard browser, users can graphically see project locations on a map and view important details about each project such as dates, contact details, conflicts, and much more.
Managing Events and Traffic Impacts in the Right of Way
Envista’s "Smarter Streets" introduces collaborative approach to event/incident management by graphically documenting and communicating all activities in the Right of Way. Outdoor civic events present many coordination challenges for public works and utilities, especially during the construction season. For the first time, all city departments can quickly and easily coordinate and respond to planned and unplanned events by using Envista’s map-based solution accessible via the Internet.
Envista handle all types of municipal “special events” including parades, road races, and festivals. Envista automatically maps event locations as well as related impacts such as traffic routing, parking, variable message signs, traffic officers, and more. Events such as a road marathon can be strategically planned with all the corresponding logistical details: detours, parking restrictions and road closures.
For unplanned eventsand incidentsthat demand a rapid response such as water main breaks, Envista's new release enables municipalities, utilities, and highway agencies to map the location of the incident and create a coordinated plan of action. For the first time, non-GIS users can map the location of incidents and automatically email notifications containing an embedded map showing the incident location and more.
Smart Permitting and Location Intelligence
The new Envista release provides instant location "intelligence" to the permitting process by showing permits on a web-based map. This functionality is available only from Envista. Permit information is essential to the work of many city and town departments and utilities, yet access is often limited. Using Envista, municipal personnel and utilities can see information such as construction and maintenance projects, moratoriums on digging, special events, and unplanned incidents and emergencies. Inspectors can see maps and contacts on smart phones and mobile laptops. Users can track permits by status, applicant, applicant organization, type, location, date, and other variables. Email notifications and permit reports with embedded maps can be sent to contacts both inside and outside an organization.
